The pouting mouths

A pout lives in the mouth. Three characters do most of the work:

• ε and з look like pushed-out lips, as in (｀з´).
• ‸ is a tiny pressed mouth for quiet sulking, as in (っ- ‸ - ς), where the hands hold the puffed cheeks.
• ︿ is a wobbly frown that is close to tears, as in (｡•́︿•̀｡).

The same ε mouth with soft or closed eyes reads as a kiss, so the eyes decide which one you are sending.

Three kinds of pout

• Grumpy: angled eyes and sometimes an angry vein, like (#｀ε´#). Annoyed, but in a cute way.
• Puppy-eyed: eyebrows tilted up in the middle, a face that says “please?” or “that was mean”.
• Flustered: blush marks with pursed lips, like (´,,•з•,,`)♡, for a pout that is half a smile.

When a pout says it best

A pout is softer than an angry face. It fits “you ate the last cookie?”, a friend spoiling the ending of a show, or being left out of a plan. It tells people you are a bit hurt without starting a fight. The puppy-eyed style uses tiny accent marks above the eyes, which some older phones place oddly, so those faces are labelled.
