Surprised Kaomoji

Gasps, dropped jaws and OMG moments for gossip, news and plot twists.

661 faces. Tap a card to copy, ♡ to save. Faces marked “may not show on older devices” use rarer symbols.

The Σ jump

Many shocked faces start with Σ, a Greek letter. In Japanese comics a few sharp lines next to a head mean the person just jumped in surprise, and Σ looks like those lines. So Σ(゚Д゚) is a face that just went “WHAT?!”.

The mouth tells you how big the shock is: o is a small “oh”, ロ is a square open mouth, and Д is a jaw dropped wide.

Good surprise or bad surprise?

Perfect for plot twists

Surprised faces are a favourite reply to gossip, a sudden twist in a story, or a friend’s big announcement. They are short and use common symbols, so they look right on most screens. Send one alone as your whole reply; it says more than “omg”.

Surprised or scared?

The two look alike, so check the extras. A surprised face is frozen in a gasp. A scared face is shaking, sweating, turning pale or running. If the news is good, add sparkles or stars and the shock turns into joy.
